Sponsor my parents or grandparents: We already applied to sponsor them

Routes people usually look at

  1. 1

Keeping your PGP application on track

IRCC continues to process applications already submitted, and has said it plans to approve up to 15,000 people through the PGP in 2026.
  2. 2

    The super visa

For visits while the application is in process.
What’s usually involved
  1. Check your online account regularly for messages and requests.
  2. Respond to any request for documents, biometrics or medical exams before the deadline.
  3. Tell IRCC about changes, such as a new address, a marriage, a death, or a change in a dependant’s situation.
  4. Keep meeting the sponsorship undertaking requirements, including income for the required years.
  5. If IRCC refuses the application, look at your options quickly. Some deadlines are short.
Documents you’ll typically need
Timing

Timing depends on where the application is in the process and on checks for each family member. Check IRCC’s processing times page.

Common pitfalls
  • Missing a request for documents because the online account was not checked
  • Not reporting a change in the family
  • Letting an expired medical exam or police certificate hold up a decision
  • Waiting too long after a refusal

This is general information, not legal advice about your situation.
